David started rowing way back in 1973 at school in Belfast. He joined MUBC in 1979, rowing in the 1st (and only!) IV that year. He was President in 1980/81 and 1981/82, during which time the club re-equipped with a new VIII, as well as a 1x, and grew from 5 active members to over 60. David continued to row at Staines BC and (after a long gap) now sculls at Cantabs in Cambridge as well as subbing into their Veteran VIII "when they can't find anybody else". His rowing style has been described as "stylish, but lacking any evidence of work" by a leading commentator (ie Bob Moore, David's 2x partner!).

Bob began his rowing career around 1970 at Bedford Modern School. He was a member of the Manchester University First VIII in 1973-4 but latterly took over coaching roles in his presidential year 1975-6. After two years in the First VIII at Bedford RC, he arrived Manchester as a postgraduate, rowing in various winning crews during the Richardson presidency - including a win in IVs at the British Universities Regatta. Returning to the sport in 1999, he has enjoyed success as part of the Hollingworth Lake RC Veteran squad, and more recently teamed up with David Richardson in a Veteran D 2x. He has been described as a 'highly tuned racing machine' but there is very little empirical evidence to support this contention........
